Are you aware of the success of a training program? Professor Donald Kirkpatrick wondered about this in 1954 already and developed four levels of training evaluation. They are more relevant than ever, now that they have been updated. Check on which levels you evaluate a training program!

According to Kirkpatrick, the first evaluation is the participants’ opinion: did they find the training program enjoyable and relevant? In the updated version, it is specified that this concerns the level of commitment and the contribution to the learning experience (engagement) and the ability to apply the learned elements in their job (relevance). This can be measured using just a simple survey and therefore, it is the way most training programs are being evaluated. However, this only shows part of the success of a training program.
